HOW TO BUILD A LANDING PAGE IN WORDPRESS
The rise of E-commerce websites:
WordPress is the most used CMS so is its woo-commerce plugin. More people than ever are shopping online than they are in physical stores. And according to some experts, online sales will increase from $335 billion in 2017 to $523 billion in 2020, a rise of 9.32% per year, although the current annual growth rate is actually 14%. which is a big deal for online businesses all around the world.
Single page website preference:
Single page websites are being preferred over the course of last year. Not just by the public but by WordPress developers as well. This trend is also predicted to follow this year for its increasing popularity. One page websites are preferred because it convinces visitors more logically. Every detail is there on one page which means that the business is described in the best possible way. The storytelling through each page is interesting enough to attract the attention of the visitors.
Typography:
Typography has also seen a rise in the past year and is most likely to stay this year as well. Most website publishers are demanding more effective textual presentation from the WordPress as they have realized H2 and H3 headers popularity so far is not going to bring traffic. People are interested in the unique appearance of the content and only good and balanced typography can bring those aesthetics.

Drag and drop option:
This has definitely made work easier for web designers but it is more beneficial for beginners. When you don’t know whether you’d be able to pull off things on your next click, with this simple drag and drop option they can now easily drag the files and drop them on the backend panel. With this incorporating and using media files and images for your website design has become easier than ever before. This is also quite helpful in editing.
Mobile friendliness of websites:
Another dominating trend of 2017 was mobile friendly or mobile compatible websites. Mobile compatibility in websites, on a personal note, has made life a lot easier. The majority of people nowadays are using Smartphones and tablets to log on to the internet. Thus every website is now expected to meet the requirements of the mobile users. This has also added up to generating higher revenue than usual.
List of top 10 predicted Web Design trends for 2018:
Alright, so no more past things as we just landed into the present. 2018 is already here and you should be curious about all the what’s, when’s and if’s. The first thing to come in every WordPress users mind should be that what new trends this year is bringing. How it will evolve over the next 12 months (Oopss only 9 are left). One thing is for sure that 2018 will be all about rich experiences for web designers as we have already seen lots of advancements in the field. Below is the list of top 10 WordPress web design trends predicted for 2018:
Virtual Reality:
Augmented reality or virtual reality has been the talk of the town lately and virtual reality plugins are sure to rule the design world this year. As a trending element WordPress designers are adopting the VR technology as WordPress now started offering complete support for introducing VR videos and augmented reality 360-degree media files. This is adopted by businesses on a large scale because it is more likely to give customers a hands-on experience about the products.
Video Headers:
Since WordPress has made it easier to incorporate video header with the help of a range of themes, we are more likely to come across some exceptional changes in websites. And why not as video headers are the hot trending web designing element of 2018. Starting with the 4.7 ‘Vaughn’ version, WordPress has been enjoying support for looping video headers. That has allowed for some incredible new decorative options. Customization has always been a huge part of WordPress and this time there’s no exception.
Cyber Security:
The increasing rate of cybercrime is not hidden from anyone. So is the need for cyber security which was given mere attention lately. Research tells us that the past year has seen numerous prolific attacks on popular websites, even on sites which had increased security measures. 2018, won’t miss out on this important issue. As more and more security tools are being developed by the minute and WordPress owners should consider investing heavily in the protection of their websites.
Bold Typography:
Big and bold typefaces have seen a rise last year. And it’s about time that this trend will take the high end this year too. In between the rise of augmented reality and animation, the need for catchy, funky or a bit rule-breaking typography (delivers message fast and in the visually engaging way) has become imperative. 2018 is ready to take this a few notches higher.
Push Notifications:
Website push notifications are also on the top favorites of 2018. They are basically like facebook or message notifications. But the difference between website notification an SMS notification is that these messages are delivered directly to your visitors’ desktops (once they’ve opted in). While push notifications will never supersede email marketing or pop-ups, it’s another tool you should have in your site’s arsenal as you attempt to reach visitors in real quick time.
Prioritizing mobile-first indexing:
The mobile-friendly website is an old fella now. It’s time for Google to take the game a bit further with mobile-first indexing. Mobile-first indexing here refers to the google ranking on behalf of the desktop experience.Google will use the mobile version of the website for determining rank. And, this way automatically the mobile experience will take an even greater priority in your web design process. So, you’ll find other mobile-first initiatives, techniques, and tools making their way in technology this year. In 2018, specifically, you can expect to see more websites relying on SVGs (instead of JPGs or PNGs) as well as more websites going through Google AMP.
Animation took a step higher:
The animation is among those many ways which have brought revolution in the design world and 2018 won’t be an exception. Since there’s always a need for explainer videos and scroll-triggered animations, 2018 will bring with it more experimental uses of video in the form of cinemagraphs, particle backgrounds, virtual or augmented realities, and even animated thumbnail images.
Geometric Shapes:
Even though geometric and polygon art (i.e., backgrounds, textures, and more, all with regular lines and repeating patterns) was big in 2017 but this particular trend seems to be staying this year as well. Predictions about what possibly this element of web designing can have in store are whimsical designs, zig-zag geo patterns, retro triangles, and daring patterned letters.
Past flashbacks:
The trending hashtags of ‘good ole days’, Flashback Friday, a throwback to this, a throwback to that got me thinking about the constant infusion of past and present in the design world this past year. Especially early 90’s American pop-influenced design was seen in demand in web designing. Which gives us a clear hint of this 90’s and 80’s creeping in web design of 2018.
Parallax will stay:
A new trend or maneuver of moving background at a slower rate than the foreground to create an illusion of 3D has also been introduced. Ths phenomenon is called Parallax. This is basically to create depth on the page. This trend is also predicted to make the mark in 2018 because why not as data analysis shows that it has increased website traffic to a significant number and has added an interactive aspect to an otherwise simple website. Parallax scrolling typically boosts engagement and interaction with the users, and in 2018 we can see a greater number of WordPress sites to use parallax scrolling.
Summing it all, 2018 is all ready to leave a significant mark in web designing through different themes and plugins of our ever glorious WordPress. So, enjoy it to the fullest and A very good luck if you are ready to do your part in defining 2018’s web designing.
