- First, open the image that you need to add in your site. Check the image dimensions in Preview, image Viewer, or your app of choice. If the image is already in suitable size, continue with the step 2.
- Next, resize the image in its perfect dimensions. If you do not know the exact size of the image then make sure that the image will not be more than 1200 pixels.
- Then, go to CompressJPEG and upload your Image. The image will be uploaded and start compressing by itself.
- Finally, save your image and upload it on your website.
- Then, compare the original image with the compressed image and make sure the quality will be good.
- Keep the old image save in WordPress Media Library.
2. How To Compress PNG Image

- CompressPNG is a web image compressor tool that compresses the PNG images only. Click on the PNG button on the top of the webpage, and upload your image that you need to compress.
- Before compressing the image, you may even set its optimization quality, maximum width & height (i.e. below than 1200 pixels).

- Finally, save your image and upload it on your website.
- Then, compare the quality of the original image with the new image that is better than the old one.
- Do not delete the old image from Media Library.
3. How To Re-Upload Image In WordPress
We will upload the updated image in the Media Library.
Note: you should first investigate where your image is attached. If its in post or is featured image or from customization settings or in widgets. First find out where image is coming from and change it on same place.
Please do not delete your images if you don’t know what you are doing from media or anywhere.
First go to the Media >> click on the Add New button that is beside Media Library & then upload the new image ( that we compressed previously) on the website.
Click on the Upload File button >> select the new image from the file and then click on the Insert button (that is at the end of the page).
Last but not the least, refresh your webpage and then you will notice that the old image will be replaced by the new image.
