Let’s export emails from Gmail or Google Workspace
First of all you need to export your all emails from Gmail so you can later import them to your cPanel hosting account.
1. Go to Google Takeout
First of all go to Google takeout and deselect everything and only select Mail. So you can export to download mbox file of your emails. Click next so google can create your downloadable link and email you.
2. Download emails when its ready!
Now you just have to wait for google to send you email with link to download your mbox file. Please download this file and save into your computer.
Import Mbox Emails file to your cPanel Email Account
So now you have backup of your emails as Mbox in your local machine. There are various ways to import them into your cPanel account but we will be using the method we have been using for long time.
1. Download Thunderbird and Install it
First of all download and install Thunderbird Application.
2. Go to settings and Change Mbox File location
Now in thunderbird go to Settings and then go to account settings. There select Local Folders and select Local directory same where you have stored google’s mbox file.
Once you do that now you will see all your emails are visible in local directory.
3. Move emails to cPanel email account
First make sure you have added email through IMAP of your cPanel account. IMAP will automatically upload your emails to your server so without IMAP port it will not.
Then select folder from Local Folders which have your emails and drag it to your email name. This will start putting emails from Local Folders to your email folder and IMAP will start synching it on your remote cPanel server.
Final Words
Please note we already have tried outlook and many other apps. Nothing have worked only thunderbird worked nicely. One problem you can face all emails are in 1 folder. That’s the only issue you will face will this import and export.
Thank you!
