Categories in wordpress are for the posts not for the pages. They are displayed in a pecking order and alphabetically. Subcategories are displayed under their parents and are displayed by long dashes just to show hierarchy.
- The table of categories contains Name, description, slug and posts.
- Four main features associated with each new Category:
- The name ___ A unique name of the category
- Slug ___ To use in URL
- Parent ___ The main category having sub categories related to the same topic
- Description __ A brief introduction of the post, appears by hover.
- Use ‘Add New Category’ button to save your category.
